Fresh appointments beyond 60 years are encouraged only for distinguished candidates with impactful industry-oriented R&D careers and externally funded projects.

Experience counting: Only experience of more than 6 months in regular scale posts is counted; part-time, daily wage, visiting/guest/temporary faculty work is not counted. PhD from NITK: Candidates with NITK PhD can apply only after minimum 3 years post-PhD experience outside NITK (except existing regular NITK faculty).

Nationality: Applications are invited from qualified Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. Candidates must have secured First Class in both UG and PG degrees; if Class is not specified, 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CGPA (on 10-point scale) will be treated as First Class.

Application Fee: General / OBC / EWS ₹2,500 (inclusive of GST) per application; SC / ST / PwD ₹1,250 (inclusive of GST) per application. Mode of Payment: Online / NEFT / RTGS bank transfer to NITK Surathkal SBI account (details in notification); proof of payment (PDF) must be uploaded. Allowances: DA, TA, Children Education Allowance, LTC/HTC and other benefits as per Central Government/Institute rules. Pension & Medical: Covered under New Pension Scheme (NPS-2004); medical facilities for faculty and dependents as per GoI norms. Professional Development Allowance: ₹3 lakh per 3-year block (₹1 lakh per year) for conferences, memberships and professional activities (reimbursable).
