ABOUT Puducherry Police; पुडुचेर्री पुलिस 

 The Home Guards Organization was started in the Union Territory of  Puducherry in October, 1965, Initially, only government servants who volunteered to join the organization were enrolled. Subsequently in 1975, the Puducherry Home Guards Rule, 1966, was amended suitably allowing enrolment of unemployed youths also with a view to providing employment opportunities to the young and educated men and women. The Home Guards organization is purely Voluntary Organization. It is an auxiliary force to the Police. It is functioning under the general supervision and control of the Commandant General of Home Guards.    The Home Guards are being absorbed on various department such as Police Department, Jail Department, Fire Service etc.   Members of the Home Guard shall receive Duty allowance (Honorarium), Parade allowance and Washing allowance.
