First class Master’s degree (M.Sc with 2-year experience / M.Tech) in Physical Oceanography, Oceanography, Coastal Oceanography, Ocean Technology, Coastal and Harbour Engineering, Ocean and Coastal Safety Engineering from a recognized university/institute with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree or equivalent.

Desirable: JRF or NET/GATE or equivalent. Experience in collection and handling of coastal/oceanographic data.

Period of Appointment: 4 years or until the end of the project, whichever is earlier.

Age limit: 30 years (Relaxable up to five years in the upper age limit in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH as per Govt rules).

Field Assistant
Bachelor degree (B.Sc with 2-year experience / B.Tech) in Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or any other bachelor’s degree with Physics and Mathematics as subsidiary subjects from a recognized university/institute.

Desirable: Basic working knowledge of instruments required to implement the project.

Period of Appointment: 4 years or until the end of the project, whichever is earlier.

Age limit: 30 years (Relaxable up to five years in the upper age limit in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH as per Govt rules).

Note: Since the project requires extensive fieldwork, the candidates should have basic knowledge in handling surveying instruments and be willing to travel along coastal regions of Kerala for data collection.

Where the number of applicants is large and/or where it will not be convenient or possible to interview all candidates to a reasonable limit, the University reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for an interview based on qualifications/suitability of the candidate to the post with experience prescribed in the notification.

Interview will be held at KUFOS Headquarters, Panangad PO, Ernakulam, and the selected candidates for the interview will be intimated through email.

  2. The admissible qualification shall be those acquired as of the last date of receipt of the application.

Qualification

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean studies is an autonomous public funded-institution established on 20th November 2010. KUFOS is the first fisheries university in the country. The headquarters of KUFOS with its enchanting blue building stands in harmony with the greenery at Panangad, 12 km away from Kochi city, along NH-47. It provides high quality instructional programmes in fisheries, ocean sciences and allied subjects. The University now has 75 acres in the headquarters at Panangad, 50 acres at Fisheries station, Puduveypu and 10 acres at Thiruvallom near Vizhinjam.
