During the initial training period, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be admissible to candidates. On successful completion of initial training, candidates will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (Rs. 21,700 – Rs. 69,100) with Military Service Pay (MSP) of Rs. 5,200/- per month plus Dearness Allowance as applicable. Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I, corresponding to Level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix (Rs. 47,600 – Rs. 1,51,100) plus MSP Rs. 5,200/- per month plus DA as applicable.

Online applications are invited from unmarried male candidates for enrolment as sailors in Medical Branch for SSR (Med) in 02/2027 batch. Candidates must satisfy eligibility conditions as laid down by the Government of India for enrolment as sailors in the Indian Navy. Candidates must have qualified in 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) from Boards of School Education recognised by Ministry of Education, Government of India. Passed Matriculation from any recognised board Candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in aggregate and a minimum of 40% in each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in the 10+2 examination. Candidates who are appearing in class 12th Board Exam of academic year 2025-26 are also eligible to apply, provided they fulfil all other eligibility criteria. Such appearing candidates will be selected only when they produce the original marksheet during subsequent stages of recruitment and secure the minimum prescribed marks in aggregate as well as in individual subjects. Candidates must be born between 01 May 2005 and 31 October 2009 (both dates inclusive) to be eligible for SSR (MED) 02/2027 batch. Candidates born between 01 May 2005 and 31 October 2009 are also eligible to apply for INET 2026 and will be considered for Stage II recruitment of the respective batch as per age criteria. Candidates must be in good physical and mental health, free from any disease or disability likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties at sea and ashore in peace as well as war conditions. Minimum height standard for male candidates is 157 cm, with height relaxations regulated as per Government orders; detailed regulations are available on the official website. Visual standards required are uncorrected vision 6/12, 6/12 and corrected vision 6/6, 6/6 with colour perception CP Pass. Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms (from inside of elbow to the wrist) and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand; permanent tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and will lead to bar from recruitment. Insurance cover (on contribution) of Rs. 75 lakhs is applicable for sailors. Candidates must meet medical standards as assessed by authorised military doctors during Recruitment Medical Examination and Pre-Enrolment Medicals at INS Chilka.

An examination fee of Rs. 550/- (Rupees Five hundred fifty only) plus 18% GST is to be paid by candidates during Stage I – INET application. The fee must be paid in online mode using net banking, Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card or UPI. Admit card will be issued only to candidates who have successfully paid the examination fee. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances, nor can it be held in reserve for any other examination or selection. Candidates found to have registered multiple times will be rejected and debarred from the examination, and reimbursement of exam fee will not be carried out in such cases. In case of unsuccessful payment where money has been deducted without admit card generation, candidates are advised to wait for 7 working days for automatic refund to their account. Fee will be charged only during Stage I – INET application, and there will be no separate fee for Stage II process. The selection process consists of Stage I – INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) followed by Stage II (Physical Fitness Test, Written Examination and Recruitment Medical) and Pre-Enrolment Medicals. Stage I – INET is a computer-based examination with 100 objective-type (multiple-choice) questions, each carrying 1 mark. During training and service, sailors are provided books, reading material, uniforms, food and accommodation as per entitlement. Sailors are entitled to medical treatment, Leave Travel Concession for self and dependents, Group Housing benefits, Annual and Casual leave, Children Education and House Rent Allowances, and post-retirement benefits including pension, gratuity and leave encashment as per service conditions and Government orders.
