M.Sc. /M.Sc.(Tech.) in Physics /Geophysics /Space Physics /Atmospheric Science /Applied Geology /Applied Mathematics /Applied Geophysics /Marine Geophysics and allied subjects with minimum 60% or equivalent CGPA marks in M.Sc. /M.Sc.(Tech.), and Physics or Mathematics as a subject in B.Sc. Candidates appearing in final year Master's exam and expecting results before August 2026 may also apply. SC /ST /OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) /PwBD /EWS candidates get 5% relaxation in marks as per UGC norms.

Job Responsibilities
The selected candidate will conduct doctoral research in Geomagnetism and Allied Fields covering Solid Earth, Space Weather, Upper Atmospheric/Ionospheric Physics and Space Plasma Physics. Research will be carried out at IIG Headquarters, Navi Mumbai or at its regional centres — EGRL Tirunelveli, KSKGRL Prayagraj, NEGRL Shillong or any magnetic observatory.
