Karnataka, with nearly 30 districts, such as Bagalkote, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban, Belgaum, Bellary, Bidar, Bijapur, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Mysore to name a few, is a store house of job opportunities. With each district governed by a district commissioner and further divided into sub-divisions, panchayats and town municipalities, the opportunities for state govt jobs are also quite abundant. With a very low unemployment rate, Karnataka boast of having the sixth highest per-capita GDP of all states. Though the employment sector in Karnataka is dominated by a number of multinational companies, the youth who are looking for a career in the government sector has lots to look forward to.
For the academically sound and research oriented youth, the various universities and research organisations under the Govt of India banner opens the doors. Some of these are the Central University of Karnataka, Centre for Mathematical Modeling and Computer Simulation, Centre For Soft Matter Research, Indian Institute Of Plantation Management, Indian Institute of technology, IIM and various govt colleges and institutions affiliated to the university.
The major central govt establishments present in the state include the Railways, which offer job opportunities to a majority of the youth for various categories and are spread across the length and breadth of the state. Next to this is the Reserve bank of India, the various branches of the State Bank of India and its subsidiaries, other public sector banks, Karnataka Postal Circle under the Department Of Posts & telegraphs. The Govt Hospitals, Rural Development organisations, Animal husbandry and vetinary institutions, NABARD, media centres like the AIR & Doordarshan Kendra’s and the Airport Authority of India, Air India etc are various other central govt and public sector undertakings present in the state which provide for large number of employment generation in the government sector. For those with a technical background and looking in for a more professional openings, there are other organisations like the BEML, High Court Of Karnataka, Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL), , Indian Institute Of Astrophysics, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS).
Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), though a wholly Govt. owned enterprise has its own website and provides all the information about the various vacancies arising in the organisation. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) also notifies various vacancies available through their own web portals. The Karnataka State Police Force also recruits youth for their various ranks.
Besides all these most of the administrative vacancies in the civic bodies and the state government establishments, are handled by the Karnataka Public Service Commission.
