Bihar derived from the Sanskrit word, ‘Vihara’ meaning monasteries was formerly known as Magadha, and was an important center for Education, culture and tradition. The ancient university Nalanda is an example of the same. The commission conducts recruitment for the various functional parts and functionaries of the government such as the Bihar Vidhan Parishad, Bihar Vidhan Sabha, Patna High Court, Energy, Commercial Taxes, State Tourism Development Corporation, Finance, Industries, Information & Public Relations, Minority Welfare, Science & Technology, Public Health and Engineering Department. The commission is responsible for absorption of officers and other posts for the Government of Bihar in several cadres. It makes recruitment to Non-Gazetted Group B and non-technical group ‘C’ posts in the Ministries /Departments, and subordinate offices of the Government of Bihar.
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Patna, is involved in the recruitment drive up to the middle level administrative,accounts and technical hands for the railway offices under its jurisdiction. The other organizations which offer job opportunities under the banner of the govt sector are the State health society Bihar established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. This establishment provides job opportunities for various posts in Bihar Medical Services & Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSIC). The Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA) situatead in Patna , a wholly owned Government of Bihar undertaking is another prominent organisation in the state providing career opportunities for the
