Eligibility
To become a scientist, a person is expected to have sound background knowledge of physics, chemistry and biology. As far as educational eligibility is concerned, only Ph.D candidates with maximum marks will be preferred. Meteorology department scientists earn a minimum pay scale of Rs.37400/- per month and as experience and performance grows, the salary may rise up to Rs.67000/- The candidate would also be eligible for the grand pay allowance and all other allowances.
E grade scientists have a pay scale of Rs.37400/- per month and the maximum pay would be Rs.67000/- they are also eligible for a Grade Pay of Rs. 8700/- per month, in addition to other Central Government allowances. The maximum age limit for this post is 45 years.
Candidates who have been selected for D grade scientists will be awarded a pay scale of Rs.15600/– per month and upon further years of experience, the pay scale could grow up to Rs.39100. The Grade Pay for the D grade scientists are Rs.7600/- Candidates who apply for this post are should be less than 40 years of age.
C grade scientists are the third least from the top and this would be the entry level for most candidates. They can earn Rs.15600/- per month on the initial months, but as hikes grow, the salary may increase to Rs.39100, excluding the Grade Pay of Rs. 6600/- and other allowances. The age limit for this post is 35 years.
