Candidate who has completed Master of Science in a certain research field or industrial field are always needed for Government organizations like Chemical Industries and government Labs and establishments. For research oriented works, a candidate needs to have a bachelors degree, followed by Master degree. A candidate may be interviewed by a panel after his application has been accepted for labs or establishments, while industrial field personnel may have to get through a written test and interview of skill.
Depending on establishments notifying for posts, qualification may vary, it may be either an MSc or, BSc followed by Masters degree. Pay scale also is dependent on organization hiring candidate. Candidates are either called for posts of Research Associates or JRF or SRF according to the lab or establishment publishing availability of posts. Scientist posts are generally offered for candidates with a post graduate degree. Research associates draw a pay scale in the range of Rs 9,300 to Rs 34,800 with a grade pay of Rs. 4,600 per month.
A few organizations may pay Rs 22,000 along with HRA which is around 10 percent of basic. While other organizations may pay a consolidated amount ranging between 16,000 to 18,000. Pay for associates is never less than 16,000 per month. Research associates are eligible for accommodation from government, if it is unavailable one may avail house rent allowance to pay for the rented stay.
It depends upon institute hiring a MSc personnel whether travel allowance or TA, dearness allowance or DA is also available. While a job at trainee level in industrial environment draws a consolidated salary of Rs 4800 to Rs 11,300, if one is appointed as Assistant to Director to a certain lab or establishment through UPSC, they are eligible for pay scale of Rs 15,600 to Rs Rs 39,100 with a grade pay of Rs. 5,400. Research oriented fields are more paying jobs with greater security. Sometimes, certain establishments employ candidates on contractual basis for a certain period which may be extended yearly. Research fellows may not have DA or TA but they are eligible to use services of government hospitals and canteen facility.
