A lot of job opportunities are available in various departments in the government sector for the post of Stenographer. The opening is for graduates who passed with first class and have basic computer knowledge, good communication skills in English and regional language as well as good typing speed.
Applications:
The applications can be downloaded from the corresponding websites. The candidates should submit the application form on or before the last date in the regional offices. The application should have a color passport size photograph affixed and attested along with the self attested copies of the certificates and mark lists. The application should be accompanied by a demand draft of Rs.150 for general category and Rs.80 for SC/ST/OBC and other candidates. Kindly note that the last date of the application varies according to the department applied for.
The selection procedure:
The selection procedure is carried out in three rounds. The candidate will not be permitted to attend a round without clearing the previous round. The first round will be a written test which consists of 100 multiple choice questions on General Knowledge, Language ability, Aptitude and Reasoning. There will also be a section to test the Computer knowledge. Each section carries 25 questions of one mark each and will have a negative mark of 0.25 for each wrong answer. A time period of 1 hour 20 minutes will be allotted for the exam.
The names of the candidates who have qualified the written test will be published in the corresponding websites. On clearing the first round, the candidate is eligible to attend the skill test and the personal interview. The final selection will be based on the total marks of all the three rounds.
Eligibility:
The candidate should be a first class graduate from a recognized university. A computer certification in ‘O’ level is desirable. The candidate should have a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in English. The age limit is 30 years for all categories.
Salary:
The salary scale is from 5000- 12000 depending on the performance of the candidate in the selection procedure and the department on which the candidate is placed.
